The raga Malkauns is associated with a captivating story of its creation. It's believed to have been composed by goddess Parvati to soothe Lord Shiva after he was enraged by the Tandava dance following Sati's sacrifice. The raga's name, "Mal-Kaushik," is said to be derived from Shiva's depiction as "he who wears serpents like garlands," reflecting his association with the raga.
